ISLAND VISION THERAPY & REHABILITATION
Integrating Excellent Visual Function Into Your Life
Island Vision Therapy & Rehabilitation is an Optometry Clinic focused on visual function. Whether the patient was born with their vision-related challenge or acquired it later in life, we interact and connect with each individual patient to customize solutions for previously limiting problems.
Your eyes only capture and relay vision to your brain. Your brain is where vision is processed and sent to other systems in your body to aid in balance and execute meaningful movement with accuracy.
With connections between the visual system and over 40% of the brain -integrating knowledgable health care professionals is the key. We foster interdisciplinary care to help each patient reach their rehabilitation / academic / athletic vision-related goals more efficiently.
From rehabilitation to enhanced sports performance, at Island Vision Therapy & Rehabilitation, your visual goals are our number one priority.

SERVICES
____________________________________________________________________
As one of the Island's most prominent resources for post-traumatic vision syndrome and vision-related learning disorders, Island Vision Therapy & Rehabilitation focuses on a range of optometric services to have patients of all ages efficiently integrating THEIR vision into THEIR daily lives.

POST-ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY VISUAL ASSESSMENT
Concussion | Whiplash | Stroke
Approximately 30% of patients will continue to suffer from persistent visual symptoms 3 months after their initial head injury.
Over approximately 75 minutes, we will review your previous charts and history, measure multiple dynamic visual functions and investigate how well they are integrated with your balance and general motor function.
Prism glasses, lens tints, tinted contact lenses, and vision therapy are some of the treatments that can be used to ameliorate your visual challenges.
There are connections between the visual system and over 40% of the brain.
How is this different from a regular eye exam?
An ocular health exam is required to rule out structural damage to the eyes prior to this assessment with your current optometrist. If you do not have one, please contact us and we will help.

ACCOMMODATIVE & BINOCULAR ASSESSMENT
How well are your eyes working together?
An assessment of how well the focusing mechanism, eyes-teaming (binocularity), and eye tracking (oculomotor) are functioning and how this may be impacting academic and sports performance and/ or visual comfort when reading/computer work.

VISION & LEARNING ASSESSMENT
Unlock and Improve Your Learning Potential
Over 80% of Learning is Visual
This assessment is includes a Visagraph measurment and is often paired with the Accommodative & Binocular Assessment to examine all aspects of vision as they pertain to learning. If your child is struggling to read, writing backwards (letters/words/numbers) after age 7, or cannot remember the same word they read in the sentence before, visual processing may be playing a role.
All findings are reviewed with the care givers and school accommodations can be recommended. We are happy to work with teachers, tutors, therapists, etc.

TELEHEALTH | VIDEO CONFERENCING APPOINTMENT
Access to Care from Anywhere
When an in-office appointment is impossible, we are still within reach for consultations and remote vision therapy appointments.
Don't worry, it is simple.
Many patients are motion-sensitive and cannot endure long drives. This allows us to continue their rehabiliation with less frequent office visits.
